What to do in CDMX during March?

A festivity you cannot miss is the grand party of Carnival CDMX 2019. This carnival is celebrated every year before the “cuaresma” (a religious belief) during March. The Carnival is characterized for its fun parade showcasing dances, music, Carnaval Kali Hoteles colorful attires and other disguises. Especially this carnival is celebrated differently compare to other countries, since during the parade important mexican cultural aspects are displayed.

There are 59 carnivals in CDMX that aim to preserve traditions of the Mexican culture. These carnivals started years ago, and they are attended by young children, teenagers and adults. Which carnivals can we visit?

  1. Carnival at “Peñon de los Baños” it’s celebrated at the Venustiano Carranza Delegation and it’s one of the oldest carnivals in the city with approximately 136 years of history. In this carnival you can enjoy the different catrines and ladies disguises, as well as music during the parade. A very important representation of Mexican culture during the age of Hacendados (Hacienda owners). This festivity is perform during March 3rd to 7th, 2019.
  2. Carnival at “Xochimilco” is a celebration that last around 4 days and in it you may enjoy one of the variety of “comparsas” (group dances) made up of “chinelos”, “huehuenches”, “alebrijes” and “charros”. Likewise, the parade is joined by music groups, bands and night concerts. You can also purchase some artisans goods and local items. This carnival is perform during March 1st to 4th, 2019.
  3. Carnival at San Francisco Tlatenco is one of the biggest and oldest, and it’s gain recognition for its important participation in the carnival circle. In this carnival you may enjoy regional music from “charros” groups. Different groups of children, youngsters and adults disguise themselves in fun makeups. The days of carnival are March 8, 9, 10, 17, 23, 24, 25, 30, 31 and April 1st to 7th, 2019.
